Consultation Underway on the
Warwick District of the Future
This week marks the start of a 6 week public consultation
on the District’s second Community Plan.
The Warwick Partnership, members of which include the Police,
South Warwickshire Primary Care Trust, Council for Voluntary Service
and both District and County Councils, has been the driver behind
producing the Plan.
Since January the Partnership has been gathering information from
the network of organizations and groups under its umbrella as well
as carrying out a number of consultations with the community and
voluntary sector. This has been combined with the analysis of current
research such as the recent census data and citizen’s panel
survey results, to help produce this new Community Plan.
This time, the Plan contains long term objectives, looking as
far ahead as 2020. The consultation, entitled ‘Warwick District
2020…. Pull up a chair and join the discussion’ focuses
on the action-end of the Plan. The key aims of the consultation
are to:-
a) Obtain people’s views on the suggested priorities and
actions
b) Conduct a reality check to determine if the service providers
on the same wavelength as the public?
c) Find out if there are any major gaps in the Plan
d) Get a feeling about the community’s priorities to help
the Partnership decide what to tackle first
Keir McDonald, Chair of the Warwick Partnership, emphasized ‘It’s
vital that this Plan recognises, and seeks to address, the real
issues facing the diverse communities of this District.’
The consultation road show has already got off to a flying start
with sessions taking place in Warwick Market Place last Friday
and at the Royal Pump Rooms on Monday 23rd August. The public are
being encouraged to give their views by means of a short informal
interview. The results of all the interviews conducted throughout
August and September will then be analysed.
The Warwick District Senior People’s Forum (SPF) are also
participating in the consultation having invited the road show
to their coffee morning on Tuesday 23rd August and to their full
forum meeting on Tuesday 28th September.
Keir McDonald is encouraged by the interest shown by the SPF in
the process ‘We are conscious of the significant numbers
of older people living in the District, and that these numbers
are set to increase. The Plan aims to meet the needs of this ageing
population and ensure that everyone can enjoy a high quality of
life well into their old age.’
More dates and venues are being added all the time to an already
