What does it do?
The purpose of the Environment Group is:
- To co-ordinate and oversee delivery of the actions in the Community
Plan for which partner organisations are responsible
- To provide good networking opportunities for environmental professionals
and volunteers
- To encourage partnership working between grassroots groups
to achieve real environmental change
In the spirit of good networking, one organisation is invited to
present their work for ten minutes at the start of every meeting.
New members from voluntary, public and private sector backgrounds
are encouraged to become involved.
The Environment Group was responsible for compiling the sustainability
section of the community plan. Members of the environment group
are collectively responsible for delivering the actions set out.
The main headings for action as follows:
- Protect and enhance the built and natural environment
- Develop sustainable waste management
- Increase energy efficiency and use of sustainable energy
- Promote greener travel and use of public transport
The group recognises that there important links between environmental
issues and other issues such as health, community and the local
economy. The group feeds back to the Local Strategic Partnership
board.
Who is on the group?
The wider membership of the group totals over 40 organisations,
comprising representatives from the public, community and voluntary
sectors. The Environment Group is currently chaired and administrated
by Warwick District Council.
Next meeting
The next meeting of the group will be on Monday 5th September at
the Brunswick Healthy Living Centre. Lunch is provided at 1pm for
a 2pm start.
